Upcoming Requirements
You'll need a camera to work with for this course. We're hoping you can put your hands on a single lens reflex 35mm camera that has easy-to-use manual adjustments—shutter speed, aperture, and focus. Most models from the 80s and 90s have these features, though there are a few exceptions. Be careful of newer cameras with many automatic features... some make manual adjustments difficult. A tripod will also be useful.
You will shoot for this course every week for fourteen weeks, a minimum of a roll a week. You will also print each week. While the school is providing the darkrooms and chemicals, you will be responsible for film and some other basic supplies that the bookstore has put together as a package. You will also need paper, which you may buy at the bookstore or online. We will talk more about what you'll need during the first week's classes.

Gotta Text?
I hate to begin a class this way, but just so you know how I feel about this, here it is. There is nothing easy about the material we are covering. It is even harder to learn if, well, you don't catch it because while I am busy covering it, you are busy with your face glued to your cell phone. If you can't ignore your phone, turn it off. If you can't turn it off, leave it in your locker. If you can't leave it in your locker, please leave the class.

Just a reminder of several things you need to do to do well in this class:
- Show up for class
- Turn in assignments on time
- Participate in discussions, about your own work and that of others.
- Do good work, which means think about what we're trying to do here.
- Ask questions when you don't understand something. It's the best way we have to get answers when we're stuck.
