Learning Mongolia

Links to material from the footnotes.
The dombor is a two-stringed instrument with a round belly and a long neck. It's the traditional instrument of Khazakstan, and is played by Mongolia's Khazaks. Nurbek, this talented player, also plays a two necked version that I had never seen before. It was hanging on the wall in his parents' house, but was broken so I didn't get to hear him play it. I did get the seat of honor when he sat down to sing and play his basic one-neck version.
